For sale is a Mercedes-Benz 500 K Cabriolet B, whose commission book entry confirms matching numbers. The car was originally delivered to England through the sales office of British Mercedes-Benz Ltd. (London). The first owner was Mr. G. Ita, registered in February 1936 under the license plate CUC754. No documentation has survived for the period between 1936 and 1990.

The restoration began in the USA in 1990/1991. After being imported to Germany in 1995, the work was continued and completed in 1997. The course of the restoration is traceable through existing invoices and a photographic record.

Since its arrival in Germany, the vehicle has remained in family ownership and has been regularly maintained. Two expert appraisals are available, both awarding the car top grade 1 condition (2009 and 2013). The most recent documented work was carried out in 2020, when the fuel tank was replaced by the company Drescher.

The Mercedes-Benz 500 K ranks among the rarest pre-war models. In particular, the Cabriolet B was produced in very limited numbers and today represents a true rarity on the market. This example further distinguishes itself through an especially rare rear design, highlighting the exclusivity of this classic.

History of the series

A 500K W29 was an impressive automobile produced by the German brand Mercedes-Benz in the 1930s. This luxury vehicle was known for its elegant appearance, powerful engine and high level of comfort.

The 500K W29 was first presented at the Berlin Motor Show in 1934 and immediately attracted a lot of attention. With a 5-liter eight-cylinder supercharged engine, the vehicle could reach a top speed of over 160 km/h, which was impressive for the time.

The body of the 500K W29 was designed and manufactured by renowned coachbuilders such as Sindelfingen, Erdmann & Rossi and Saoutchik. Each vehicle was unique and reflected the individual taste and style of the owner.

Despite its high quality and luxurious design, the 500K W29 was reserved for a small, wealthy clientele due to the economic difficulties of the time. Today, well-preserved examples of the 500K W29 are extremely rare and coveted collector's items, offering a glimpse into the automotive elegance and exclusivity of the 1930s.
