For sale is a beautiful 280 SL Pagode, which was first registered in Switzerland on 06.03.1970. This jewel has only had three owners in its long history. The second owner was the widow of the first owner, who sold the car in 2006 with a mileage of 87,000 km.

This Pagode comes with comprehensive documentation that includes invoices from the beginning to the present day. The car is still in very original condition with the original interior. The soft top was renewed a few years ago and regular maintenance work has also been meticulously carried out to ensure that this particular example remains in top condition.

History of the series

The top model of the SL series W 113 produced 170 hp from its 2.8 l displacement. As the successor to the 190 SL series, it fulfilled the wishes of many customers for more power and comfort. Due to the smooth running of the large in-line six-cylinder engine, the Pagode also offered exceptionally good cruising qualities, making it a pleasant companion on rallies & trips.

The safety measures, which were new and trend-setting for the time, ensure a relaxed feeling. These included a defused interior without corners and edges, seat belts as special equipment and defined crumple zones. The designation "pagode" was given to it by the vernacular, as the concave roof resembles temples from the Far East - pagodas, in fact.

Yet the shape was originally intended rationally as an improvement in the amount of space available.
