car description

The Jaguar E-Type Roadster Series 1 is a true classic and a design icon. To ensure that the one we offer does justice to this, the body has been uncompromisingly restored and now shines in a cream-colored paint. The interior has been reupholstered in black leather, inviting you to take a seat behind the filigree wooden steering wheel. The rear view presents two chrome exhaust pipes that give the elegant roadster a sporty sound.

Technically and visually, it is in excellent condition. The stunning 3.8L six-cylinder runs like it did on day one, producing 265 horsepower and taking the E-Type to an incredible 240km/h. Thanks to the independent suspension, the handling is very sporty and comfortable. Perfect for collectors and enthusiasts to enjoy the ride on sunny days.

The E-Type on offer was delivered to the USA in 1962, the original invoice is still with the car. The restoration was carried out in Austria to the highest standard and documented photographically. In addition to the original purchase invoice, we have original annual registrations from 1962-1968 and the original US Title, service book, warranty booklet and much more. The car is very well documented.

The last appraisal was done in January 2022 in Austria, receiving the condition grade 2, with a market value of 165.000,00 Euros - tendency rising.

History of the series

On March 15th in 1961, the E-Type was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show as a coupe. Leaving a lasting impression on the world. However, the roadster was still held back from the press. The sensation surrounding the coup was so great that the roadster was immediately ordered to Geneva. A month later at the New York show, the E-Type generated the same enthusiasm. Six cars were sold within 30 minutes and a remarkable 2,000 orders were placed during the show.

The first series ended in 1968, ushered in by the ban on covered headlights. But the era was not over yet. The success story of the E-Type could be written well into the 1970s. Until today, the Jaguar E-Type, with its timeless body shape and above-average performance for the time, has become a sought-after collector's item.

Last year the E-Type celebrated its 60th birthday, some call it an icon, others call it a legend. But one thing is certain, namely that the E-Type is one of the most exciting sports cars in automotive history.
