This Porsche 356 B 2000 GS Carrera 2, with a factory sunroof and the highly coveted Fuhrmann engine, has also been modified by Reinhard Schmidt. Only 8 of this extremely rare “Schmidt Porsche” were ever built and modified. Externally, the modification is only apparent at second glance, perfect for Porsche enthusiasts. The bumpers got a rubber seal, additional headlights were mounted and the air intakes next to the turn signals have been redesigned. Likewise, the trunk lid has been done without the front hood handle.
In the interior, the so-called "Schmidt-Porsche" is distinguished by the clock mounted in the dashboard and the additional instruments: Interior and exterior thermometers, volt and oil pressure gauges. The car also has an Eberspächer heater BN4 and a Webasto parking heater.
The 356 B is third hand, first delivery in Germany and very well documented. The car has been fully restored and all work can be traced through various invoices and detailed photo documentation. Really a first-class Carrera 2 which not only belongs into every Porsche 356 collection but also stands for a safe, high potential investment.
Porsche revised the Porsche 356 A and thus produced the new 356 B (T5) series from 1959 onwards. The power range began with the 356 B 1600 and 60 hp and ended with 130 hp in the 356 B 2000 GS Carrera 2.The Fuhrmann Engine, wich this Carrera 2 is also fitted with, was original developed for racing and thus brings a completely new driving experience to the 356 Porsche.
The difference between the 356 B and the predecessor model is, among other things, the 10 cm higher positioned front bumper with higher positioned headlights. In addition to the front turn signals, flatter horn grilles are installed, each with two chrome-plated louvers. Another feature is the front hood handle, which is wider at the bottom than on the predecessor. Also, the license plate light was integrated into the rear bumper and the reversing light was installed below the rear bumper.
From the 09.1961 (T6) on, revisions were added, such as a downward widening of the front hood and a fuel filler cap integrated into the front right fender. Furthermore, two vertically arranged air grilles were integrated into the enlarged engine hood.
