car description

This unique vehicle for sale here is a Panhard Dyna Sport Barchetta from 1952. The car was first registered in July 1952 according to the vehicle registration document and is one of only three examples produced by Allamanno from Turin especially for the Mille Miglia in 1953. Each of the three has a different, handcrafted aluminum body - making each vehicle unique.

This Panhard was not only a participant in the 1953 Mille Miglia, but also a winner in its class. In 1955, the Panhard Dyna Sport Barchetta took part in the Mille Miglia again, this time with the number 69. Although the race was not completed, the participation remains a remarkable milestone in the history of this vehicle, which was also documented with two photos. The drivers in 1955 were Paccagnella and Della Giustina, who drove the vehicle with passion and skill. In 1997, the current owner acquired this impressive vehicle from Walter Zaffi, who is based in Italy.

The condition at the time was not very convincing, so the current owner had the bodywork and technology extensively restored between 1997 and 1998. The engine was upgraded from 850cc to 1000cc to give the Panhard Dyna Sport Barchetta even more power. The fascination for the Mille Miglia was the reason for the owner to purchase this Panhard Dyna Sport Barchetta in 1997, so that he was finally able to take part in this prestigious race again in 2003 and 2005 after the restoration had been completed.

In 2007, the body of the Panhard Dyna Sport Barchetta was once again overhauled by the renowned coachbuilder Drescher, who did a perfect job and documented everything in writing and with photos. In general, the car is very well documented, with many invoices, expert reports and pictures of the restoration. The print media have also devoted one or two articles to the car.

All of this shows the commitment and dedication that has been put into the care and preservation of this historic vehicle - right up to the present day. The Panhard is therefore not only a guaranteed ticket to the Mille Miglia, but also a collector's item with a historic racing history and a solid investment.

History of the series

Panhard is a French automobile brand with a fascinating history dating back to the 19th century. The company was founded in 1887 by René Panhard and Émile Levassor. Together they developed innovative technologies and laid the foundations for the modern automotive industry. Panhard was one of the pioneers of automobile construction and played an important role in the development of vehicles with internal combustion engines. The company produced its first vehicle with a gasoline engine as early as 1891. This vehicle was a milestone in the history of the automobile and laid the foundation for Panhard's success.

Over the years, Panhard gained a reputation for technical excellence and innovation. The company introduced numerous groundbreaking developments, including the use of cardan drive, hydraulic brakes and the boxer engine. These technologies were pioneering for the automotive industry and were adopted by other manufacturers around the world. Panhard experienced a heyday in the 1950s and 1960s. The company's vehicles were very popular with motorists due to their quality and appealing design. Panhard also won several prestigious races, including the Mille Miglia and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Unfortunately, Panhard was unable to keep pace with technological progress and changing market conditions in the decades that followed. The company was sold several times and changed hands. Finally, the production of Panhard vehicles was discontinued in 1967. Panhard was a pioneer in the automotive industry and made a significant contribution to the development of the automobile with its innovative technologies and elegant designs.
